We all need as much space and muscular tone as possible to hold our centers long, strong and spacious. Our abdomen muscles when switched back on can really hold our centers long and expansive. This means that the organs can stay unrestricted and can float in their respected spaces for optimal circulation and function.
The common “Crunch” has been the go-to core exercise with the idea that rock hard, defined abs were healthy and good for the lower back. Building strong, hard defined abs might look good or impressive to some people but creating short tight muscles in the space between your ribs and pelvis goes again body logic. This out-dated fitness approach of tightening and contracting creates less space for all the internal organs! Over time, this approach will also get negatively affect the low back by shorting and tightning abdominal muscles, creating less space between the pelvis and the ribs and increasing downward compression in the lumbar spine.
This class focuses on how we can work to maintaining long and strong muscles between our pelvis and rib cage from the front, back, and sides, including hip flexors and freeing the diaphragm for better breathing. The greater length we maintain in our centers, the less digestive problems, bladder problems, hip and lower back tension and pain we will have. Create abdominal strength, tone and length for improved posture and low back stability.
