I received my training as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program in 2010. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; Dr. Mark Hyman, Functional Medicine Practioner, author of The Blood Sugar Solution and Dr. John Douillard, Ayurvedic practitioner; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. 

My education at IIN has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic health, whole foods and nutrition, health coaching, and preventive self-care. I have served in the organic natural food/body care retail industry for almost 20 years due to my own innate curiosity about natural healing and the idea that food is medicine and also due to my own health issues as a teen and young adult. As a result, I have extensive knowledge of herbs, supplements, and nutrition for the purpose of responsible, sustainable self-care.

​I bring to my work an extensive background in Yoga, ballet and modern dance, many years of experience in massage therapy and Reiki, and a deep understanding of the pleasure and healing power of expressive movement. I moved to Savannah, Ga in 1988 and pursued a career in modern dance theater and modeling for local artists and Savannah College of Art and Design students. I danced under the brilliant and inspired instruction of Kim Nichols Cech with the premier modern dance theater company, Apogee, based in Hilton Head, SC. After a few short blissful years of pursuing my dancing dreams, I moved to Athens, Ga. I retired from dance and became the mother of two beautiful children. Yoga filled that place in my heart and body that dance had left in me and I began to cultivate a passionate, self-guided home practice, inspired by Kim and other powerful and creative teachers. Steve Ross (Happy Yoga) and Alan Finger (Yoga Zone, Ishta Yoga) were my living room gurus at that time. I immersed myself in personal practice and study.

​As time went on, I embraced the teachings of Sadie Nardini, creator of Core Strength Vinyasa, Amy Weintraub, creator of LifeForce Yoga and Yoga for Depression, David Emerson, author Yoga for Emotional Trauma and Jon Kabat Zinn, founder of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and writer of Full Catastrophe Living, and other mindfulness resources for mindful living and wellbeing. After many, many years of self-directed, passionate study, I had the privilege of completing my teacher training certification with the non-profit Vastu School of Yoga, a Karma service and Sivananda teacher training center under the dedicated and compassionate instruction of Lal Maharajh and Lorrie (Shiva Kami) Conglose. Sivananda Yoga, originating from the teachings of Swami Sivananda, a medical doctor and Karma yogi, is a style of Hatha Yoga, focusing on the preservation of the health and wellness of the practitioner through disciplined practice of asana, pranayama, meditation and karma service. Recently, I have added further study and certification with Yoga Warriors International™ and am certified to teach the Yoga Warriors method to Veterans and others who are managing the symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.

In 2007, I became a Nia® White Belt under the compassionate guidance and experienced training of Nia Black Belt, Denise Medved. Nueromuscular Integrative Action - Nia is a cardio dance group fitness class that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts and based on the idea that exercise should feel good inside and out. Nia's philosophy is "through movement we find health." As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness and holistic fitness and well-being, empowering people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit. Nia inspired the dancer in me to return without fear, self-judgement, or competition. It allowed me to approach movement and dance from a beginner's mind and provided a foundation of fitness and expression that my body was craving.

I have been studying and practicing Yamuna® Body Rolling since 2003. I became passionate about Yamuna's techniques after severe car accident injuries prevented me from living a happy, mobile, pain-free life. Yamuna® Body Rolling healed my whiplash, cervical disk herniations, chronic pain and trauma and gave me back my pain-free life. I was honored to have been educated and trained by the creator, Yamuna Zake, herself and after several years of study, I became a certified Yamuna® practitioner in 2007, in order to help myself and others free their bodies of pain due to misalignment, injury, trauma and repetitive stress. I was able to not only recover because of Yamuna's powerful practice, but I am stronger, more flexible, balanced and pain-free than I was before the car accident several years ago. 

In 2014, I became a certified as personal fitness trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in answer to my growing concern over extreme fitness and the subsequent injuries that occur result as a result of improper body mechanics, muscular imbalance, and the "no pain, no gain" mentality. "For more than 20 years, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) has set the standard in certification, continuing education, solutions and tools for health and fitness, sports performance and sports medicine professionals. NASM has pioneered evidence-based health and fitness solutions that optimize physical performance and allow individuals to achieve a variety of fitness activity goals." I specifically chose NASM because of their cutting-edge, scientific approach to fitness through their OPT Model. "Designed exclusively by NASM, Optimum Performance Training® is a systematic and integrated (total body) training, reconditioning and rehabilitation program that incorporates six components of training — flexibility, cardiorespiratory, core, balance, power and strength. This method is successful in training, reconditioning and rehabilitating elite, college, high school and recreational athletes alike. OPT® also has proven successful with the general health club population by decreasing body fat, increasing lean muscle mass and improving overall health." 

Drawing on all of these skills, knowledge and education, I work with my clients to help them make the healthiest lifestyle and fitness changes that produce real and lasting results.
